I was asked to make one of my flag cases for a friend. This is always a time when I think of all the people who have served this great country and wish there was more I could do to honor their service. So I try to make something they would be proud to show in their home and say, "That is to remember my loved one."<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268711430164307570" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; width: 320px; height: 212px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyyIAcbQpy67YyVuDj_xWTy4gxGHomrCASoourBBTfczr-ghlG40_V_mGJ3Q-xQWb5osyj0zzTsNunQexHdIpJ6fmFm8O22DyWqJuMhV6Nd0vr_Oq1pJEpqv89FpMqf4Kt7di6pIobWTGG/s320/Flag+Case+3.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br />On the lighter side, I have been carving some birds.<br />I thought I would use some of the drift wood we collected when I went and seen my daughter and her family in Seattle.<br />Here are two I have finished. Watching this guy carve dogs looks so relaxing, he makes it look easy! So, I had to buy some wood and try my hand at making my own hound!<br />As you can see, I carved two; One I pained and one I left with all the carving marks. I kind of like the plain one.<br />Now I'm going to have to look at all of my old books and the projects. I always thought they were too hard. After this experience, I think I'll give them a try.<br /><br />I'm off to my next project. Take care!<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt-zqMnCTja2YU2gC2zj0GNdiOr2eHzwMy8fV-YpN-S1KGzna3kjapzXHyHm39yaS1SiCdoeAXWHULaW1j-am2XfD6xJUg5N1_UrT0ECM_BMqVVSQd40fMqDBSTtFfCTlFj3IMxNjMiS-k/s1600-h/dodbl.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225254015714156930" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt-zqMnCTja2YU2gC2zj0GNdiOr2eHzwMy8fV-YpN-S1KGzna3kjapzXHyHm39yaS1SiCdoeAXWHULaW1j-am2XfD6xJUg5N1_UrT0ECM_BMqVVSQd40fMqDBSTtFfCTlFj3IMxNjMiS-k/s320/dodbl.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRunsWrmXOiFAVG_5EfUBrAAUhyphenhyphenX_-23LjJLoZZPInXmhkNuI7bTiaX4XZVMOnw3ZV1VJTuiU5-fvyTu9kvNHZyVgZF4Xv4Ewz6CI_6ja8RmANmKVCunfb-z985vT2Ei2JwOvNFpjbclUi/s1600-h/dogs1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5225254020746755426" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRunsWrmXOiFAVG_5EfUBrAAUhyphenhyphenX_-23LjJLoZZPInXmhkNuI7bTiaX4XZVMOnw3ZV1VJTuiU5-fvyTu9kvNHZyVgZF4Xv4Ewz6CI_6ja8RmANmKVCunfb-z985vT2Ei2JwOvNFpjbclUi/s320/dogs1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />I made this from a pattern from Judy Roberts and donated it to <a href="http://www.relayforlife.org/relay/">Relay for Life</a> to auction off. Got to thinking about a old branch I pass every day walking my dog and saw a perfect piece for my project. So I started my snake and then thought he might need a reason to be climbing this stick so I put a frog at the top for him to go after. Then I was trying to think about what to put at the top when my lovely girlfriend told me to make it a snake head. So this old piece of wood became something I am proud to show and tell people I carved. Here are some pictures.</div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsCchTzafD2LaJKwtDf4S8X9aWyBk6JM-nZLVL5ljFjKI554ZWeVyPUscuA5uplX40eEH16IlIbSaXpfLIz1NLIoTznb5JDCfdLdifKI02JUr5uC4mRKYQ6ghp-br7-9s1uq2dQbfn_oP-/s1600-h/canesnake4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223404061360961506" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsCchTzafD2LaJKwtDf4S8X9aWyBk6JM-nZLVL5ljFjKI554ZWeVyPUscuA5uplX40eEH16IlIbSaXpfLIz1NLIoTznb5JDCfdLdifKI02JUr5uC4mRKYQ6ghp-br7-9s1uq2dQbfn_oP-/s320/canesnake4.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOdPk-LTYKuVxAuTn2ujWTCpktooBljR1YX1YtoIK6L2vRILfzhwSiLweE_U-ioVJGeJy8IIzrL5c089K9bj8gy4qcXIxEFz24rI12m2ias429oDz6zLGW48_mnDtnJIo-OryVCXZT9m3t/s1600-h/canesnake2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223403757929161634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOdPk-LTYKuVxAuTn2ujWTCpktooBljR1YX1YtoIK6L2vRILfzhwSiLweE_U-ioVJGeJy8IIzrL5c089K9bj8gy4qcXIxEFz24rI12m2ias429oDz6zLGW48_mnDtnJIo-OryVCXZT9m3t/s320/canesnake2.jpg" border="0" /></a>lynnwoodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12925199854292019172noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-961899297556173881.post-47607153228686902042008-07-12T14:14:00.000-07:002008-12-09T20:22:05.563-08:00Woodlyn Carver<div align="left">I am starting this because <a href="http://michelleauer.blogspot.com/">my daughter </a>thinks I should show some of the things I make for people. I will be adding some pictures as I learn more about <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">blogging</span>. </div><div align="left">I started out by making things and would throw them away because I would know where the flaws were, or I would just give them away. </div><div align="left">I always liked woodworking. I met this man named Bill in my Junior year that made custom things for people. He would make something for you and if he saw you a year later he would ask how the item was. If you told him a door was off a little or something was scratched he was at your house the next day to fix it . </div><div align="left">Sadly, after knowing this man for 2 1/2 years, he died of Cancer. </div><div align="left">So, I started making blanket chests and <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">flag</span> cases for people. </div><div align="left">Now I am getting into carving things.
